The sixth Sociology Cultural Festival of Peking University

The sixth Sociology Cultural Festival of Peking University curtained up in Yingjie Communication Center hall on April 3, 2009. Wang Limei,vice secretary of Party of PKU, and Xie Lizhong, the director of department of sociology, attended the opening ceremony.

 

 

The annual festival, which dates back to 2004 and themes in ‘Overcoming the difficulties—sociology goes ahead with society’this time, has provided an opportunity not only for students and teachers majored in sociology to share their thoughts, but also those of other departments to know more about the discipline in the past 6 years.

 

Wang Limei, vice secretary of Party of PKU, deliver the opening speech. She said that the festival is of great help to the multiculture in PKU and grow-up of college students, that tremendous changes has taken place in the social structure, the way of living and minds of people since China began its policy of reform and opening 30 years ago. How to explain these changes and where may they bring us? These are the questions that we should fall back on sociology to answer. Now that the pure-copy of western theory does not work, we are supposed to find our own way, following the footstep of Fei Xiaotong.After the ceremony, professor Ma Rong deliver the first lecture of festival: ‘The cause and solution of the ethnic problem of contemporary China

 

EU NOTICE: Application for EU Erasmus postgraduate communication project The project, which is started by Europe Aid Cooperation Office and carried out by Executive Agency Education, Audiovisual and Culture accepts China as one of its cooperation countries in the year of 2009 and therefore provides financial aid to students and teachers to exchange with EU university.Applications for the following institutions are available now: University of Ghent and Brussels Free University in Belgium, University of Upsala in Sweden, University of Gottingen in Germany, Groningen University in Netherlands, University of Kent in Britain, University of Lille in France, University of Ljubijana in Slovenia, University of Rome in Italy, University of Valencia in Spain.Main areas funded conclude agriculture, architecture, urban planning, economic management, education, engineering, geography, law, medicine, natural science, social science etc.

 

Compared to State-funded projects, Erasmus Mundus highlights as follows:1, no specific provision on the type of enrollment; 2, higher scholarship, ?1500 per month for doctor; 3, application available for postgraduate; 4, no obligation of serving the country.

The first will be in room 202 of Academic Building No.2 at 6:30, 3 September and the other in room 239 of Electronic Building at 6:30, 15 September.
