Like many other countries, China has adopted an “authoritarian development" model in its recent development. However, this model is not sustainable, and may end up in the "Middle Income Trap". Thus, in order to avoid falling into this “trap”, it is imperative to facilitate a smooth transition of developmental models and form a new impetus. Yet the implementation of such strategies will cause conflict with the authoritarian type of public governance which often occurs in developing countries. Thus it is critical for developing countries to realize the transformation of public governance model in order to side-step the "middle income trap".
